Many are in for a surprise when they arrive at the International Airport in Iceland. You’ve actually landed in Keflavik, about 50 km drive from Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland.

Getting from Keflavik to Reykjavik?

There are various ways of getting from Keflavik to Reykjavik. We suggest a taxi, travel by bus or rent a car from B&B Guesthouse.

• Taxi: order a taxi from the local taxi station, A-stöðin at 420-1212
• Bus: Go by bus from the International Airport, choose from Flybus or Airport Express, or take the local bus from Keflavik to Reykjavik, Route 55. The local bus goes from Hringbraut, just around the corner from the Guesthouse to Reykjavik.

Visting us at B&B Guesthouse in Keflavik Center and want to explore the Reykjanes Peninsula, but you aren’t travelling around in a rental car? Then this might be the way to explore the wonders of the Reykjanes Peninsula.

In this trip places such as the bridge between continents, the Reykjanes lighthouse, Gunnuhver (hot spring), Brimketill rock formation by the Atlantik Ocean, Seltún hot spring area, the mystical lake Kleifarvatn and last but not least we go lava caving to explore the underground of the bláfjöll lava fields, are visited. On page 1 you’ll see the buses going from Keflavik to Reykjavik and on page 2 you’ll see the buses coming from Reykjavik to Keflavik.

Since the schedule is in Icelandic, here is a translation on the most important words on the schedule:

Mánudaga – föstudaga = Mondays – Fridays

Laugardaga = Saturdays

Sunnudaga = Sundays

Miðstöð = Central station in Keflavik at Nettó grocery store (10 minutes walk from B&B Guesthouse, up Hringbraut)

Fjörður = Fjörður shopping center in Hafnafjörður.

It is possible to take Route number 1 from Umferðamiðstöðin, the central bus station in Reykjavik, to Fjörður.

Every Wednesday from May 27th thru August 12th, you can go by bus from Keflavik and experience the beauty on the Reykjanes Peninsula first hand.

The difficulty of the walks vary and they range from 2-3 hours walks up to 6-7 hour walks.

Suggested to have on these trips are:

• Good hiking boots
• A pair of hiking sticks
• Light snack (biscuits, sandwich or fruits)
• Drinks
• Outdoor clothing (an extra sweater, extra pair of socks, a hat)
